Over the last couple of days, my XM Radio has been suffering from some pretty poor reception. It turned out be be a software issue somewhere in their system (there's a surprise). Here is their, rather lacking statement.
On the radio this morning they announced an 80 cent refund to subscribers for the outage, the catch, you have to call in to get it. I guess they are hoping no one calls in.
Perhaps, they could try a different take on the topic and maybe salvage some loyalty out of the situation. Just give every subscriber the refund.

You know, if they really thought that their customers were important, they would offer more than a days worth of credit. $.80 is a meaningless number.
It reminds me of the new Sonic commercial where the one actor tells the other to "keep the change." The change is one penny, but "keep the change" sounds so much better than "keep the penny."
